HINT 2

TO DETERMINE THE ORDER, THE NUMBERS DON’T LIE. THEY WILL SHOW YOU THE PATH TO TRY.

HINT 3

HINT 4

THOUGHTS OF MATH CLASS MAY DISHEARTEN YOU, BUT A MAP WITH WORD PROBLEMS IS YOUR BEST CLUE.

HOW TO SOLVE IT

FIND THE COMMONALITY BETWEEN THE ANSWERS TO THE MATHEMATICAL WORD PROBLEMS. THAT WILL BE THE GUIDE TO FOLLOWING THE CORRECT PATH OF THE MAZE TO THE RED SQUARE IN THE CENTER. CAUTION, THOUGH; ONE PATH IS A DECOY.

A HELPFUL IMAGE TO SOLVING THE NUMBER CHART

SOLUTION

EACH NUMBER SOLUTION TO THE WORD PROBLEMS IS A PRIME NUMBER. ANSWER 1 = 17, ANSWER 2 = 5, ANSWER 3 = 7, ANSWER 4 = 43 AND 17. THEN, STARTING AT ONE OF THE ARROWS, FOLLOW THE PATH CREATED BY THE SEQUENCE OF PRIME NUMBERS. FOR QUICK REFERENCE, SEE THE LINK TO PRIME NUMBERS BELOW. WHEN YOU GET TO A LETTER, LOOK FOR THE NEXT PRIME NUMBER IN THE SEQUENCE. THE LETTERS SPELL A MESSAGE: “INVASION OF POLAND SEPT FIRST”. STARTING AT EITHER ONE OF THE ARROWS, THERE IS A PATH OF PRIME NUMBERS BUT ONE OF THEM SAYS “INVASION OF THIS IS WRONG”.

Triangle Puzzle

HINT 1

The triangles will help you, of that there’s no doubt. Just know they won’t work until you cut them out.

HINT 2

There are some strange letters with Francoise Rosay. With them the triangles have something to say.

HINT 3

The triangles might well be confusing to you. It might help to know you only use two.

HINT 4

One triangle fits in another quite well. Match them and they have secrets to tell.

HINT 5

If only the first word seems to translate, turning a triangle unlocks the gate.

HINT 6

In order to figure how much to turn, the ‘clocks’ have a message that you must learn.

HOW TO SOLVE IT

CUT OUT THE TRIANGLES WITH LETTERS AND LINES. TWO OF THEM ARE USED TO DECRYPT A MESSAGE. THE ENCRYPTED MESSAGE IS ON THE POSTCARD “FRANCOISE ROSAY”. THERE IS A HINT AS TO HOW THE TRIANGLES WORK TOGETHER. PUT THE SMALLER EQUILATERAL TRIANGLE INSIDE THE LARGER ONE SO THAT THE LETTERS LINE UP. SET ASIDE THE REST OF THE TRIANGLES. THE ARROW ON THE SMALL TRIANGLE SHOULD START BY POINTING THE SAME DIRECTION AS THE DARK END OF THE SMALL TRIANGLE DRAWN INSIDE THE LARGE ONE. THE MESSAGE THIS DEVICE CAN DECRYPT IS ON THE FRANCOISE ROSAY POSTCARD. FIRST, THE CLOCKLIKE DRAWINGS SHOW YOU HOW TO ROTATE THE TRIANGLE. THE FIRST SHOWS ONE ARROW POINTING UP. THIS MEANS DO NOT ROTATE THE SMALLER TRIANGLE. FIND THE LETTERS IN THE FIRST WORD OF THE ENCRYPTED MESSAGE ON THE SMALLER TRIANGLE. FOR EACH WORD YOU WILL NEED TO ROTATE THE INNER TRIANGLE ACCORDING TO THE HAND POSITION AND NUMBER IN THE ‘CLOCKS’.

SOLUTION

THE FIRST CLOCK SHOWS AN ARROW POINTING UP. DO NOT ROTATE THE TRIANGLE. “QHEZAX” LINES UP WITH “FRANCE”. THE NEXT ‘CLOCK’ SHOWS AN ARROW POINTING TO THE RIGHT AND THE NUMBER 2. ROTATE THE TRIANGLE TO THE RIGHT BY 2 CORNERS. “HDTKEHVD” LINES UP WITH “INVASION”. THE NEXT ‘CLOCK’ SHOWS AN ARROW POINTING TO THE LEFTAND THE NUMBER 1. THIS MEANS ROTATE THE TRIANGLE LEFT BY 1 CORNER. “LNO” LINES UP WITH “VIA”. THE FOURTH ‘CLOCK’ SHOWS AN ARROW POINTING RIGHT AND THE NUMBER 2. ROTATE THE TRIANGLE TO THE RIGHT BY 2 CORNERS. “EHTXZZXO” LINES UP WITH “ARDENNES”, WHICH IS THE NAME OF AN AREA ON THE FRENCH EASTERN BORDER. THE MESSAGE: “FRANCE INVASION VIA ARDENNES”.

Calendar puzzle

HINT 1

THE CALENDAR SHOWS ONE SPECIAL DAY. USING THAT WILL WILL SHOW YOU THE WAY.

HINT 2

THE CALENDAR GIVES AN IMPORTANT CLUE, BUT THE MAGIC POSTCARD HOLDS WHAT YOU MUST DO.

HINT 3

THE DATES MIGHT CONFOUND BUT DON’T LOSE THE CHANCE TO WRITE IT THE WAY THEY DO IN FRANCE.

HINT 5

DECIPHERING CODE CAN BE HARD IT IS TRUE, BUT THE SEQUENCE OF NUMBERS TELLS YOU WHAT TO DO.

HINT 6

IF YOU ARE USING THE DATE BUT CAN’T TELL WHICH WAY TO GO, AN ARROW WILL TELL YOU WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW.

HOW TO SOLVE IT

WRITE THE DATE SHOWN ON THE CALENDAR IN NUMBER FORMAT AND IN THE EUROPEAN STYLE, WITH THE DAY, MONTH, THEN YEAR. USE THAT SEQUENCE OF NUMBERS TO SHIFT THE LETTERS OF THE ENCRYPTED MESSAGE ON THE POSTCARD “CONGRES MAGIQUE”.

SOLUTION

THE DATE OF THE CALENDAR IS 23 DECEMBRE 1939. OR NUMERICALLY, 23-12-1939. USE THIS SEQUENCE OF NUMBERS TO SHIFT THE LETTERS OF THE MESSAGE “BACKWARD”. SO THE FIRST LETTER OF THE ENCRYPTION, H, SHIFTS BACK 2 LETTERS IN THE ALPHABET TO THE LETTER F. WHEN A LETTER ‘SHIFTS’ BACKWARD PAST THE LETTER ‘A’, CONTINUE FROM THE LETTER Z. FOR EXAMPLE THE LETTER C, WHEN SHIFTED BACK 9 BECOMES T. CONTINUE TO CYCLE THROUGH THE NUMBER SEQUENCE UNTIL YOU REACH THE END OF THE MESSAGE. USING THIS DECRYPTION, THE MESSAGE “HRPFSJWRQQJPHKHPWQJPHNUVCQZ” READS “FOOD RATIONING BEGUN IN GERMANY”.
